HiGH VOLTAGE HOMOS step into After Hours
There is a particular stretch of night that begins when the club is technically over.
The lights are lower. The crowd has thinned. The city has gone quiet. Somehow, you are still wide awake, still moving, and possibly having a much better time than you were three hours earlier.
That is where HiGH VOLTAGE HOMOS’ new eight-track release, After Hours, lives.
Moving through deep house, trip-hop, soulhouse, dub, breakbeat and drum-and-bass, After Hours keeps its focus on the quieter side of nightlife. The record is intimate, bass-forward and deliberately nocturnal, built around deep grooves, restrained vocals, negative space and the strange clarity that sometimes arrives after everybody else has gone home.
The album moves between attraction, solitude, freedom, intimacy and that unmistakable feeling of finding your own private universe inside music.
The tracks
Closer To You is pure proximity: an instrumental built around the feeling of being close enough that words would only get in the way.
Groovin’ is when you find your own little universe inside the music, and suddenly nothing else needs your attention.
Private Show plays with attraction, confidence and the delicious uncertainty of someone who knows exactly how much attention they’re getting.
Shadow No More is the turning point. It begins when you finally admit you’re finished living behind somebody else, then becomes the feeling of taking your own space back.
Till the Morning Light is for those nights when sleep isn’t happening and leaving feels even less appealing.
Wild Rose carries its scars beautifully. It’s about surviving what tried to contain you, knowing who you are, and understanding that tenderness and strength can live together.
Winter’s Sleeping Dream feels like time passing while love stays beside you. Seasons change, winter settles in, and beneath it all is the promise of waking again to warmth, flowers, sunlight and someone still there.
Woman in the Dark belongs to the person you can never quite possess or fully understand. You catch glimpses, but she is already somewhere else.
Together, the eight tracks form a record that spends less time chasing the peak of the night and more time exploring what happens after it: that private little world when the music is still playing and you have absolutely no intention of going home yet.
This is After Hours. 💋⚡
