Why BASH.?

The word already carries a few useful meanings. A bash can be a party, a gathering, a collision, a criticism, or the act of knocking something around until you see what it is made of.

BASH. is interested in energy, impact, friction and the urge to look closer. It can celebrate an idea, challenge one, take something apart, follow a strange thread, or simply gather people around something worth examining.

There is also a small technical wink in the name. Bash is the name of a command-line shell, a place where systems are examined, directed and occasionally broken open.

For us, BASH. is less a fixed definition than a useful attitude.

BASH. is the editorial side of Arts Coterie Project.

It is where ideas get more room.

The territory is deliberately broad: culture, creativity, AI, spirituality, systems, digital life, art, internet behaviour, strange ideas, human contradictions, humour, discomfort, curiosity and whatever else deserves a closer look.

BASH. moves comfortably between reflection, analysis, satire, irreverence, strangeness, personal observation and deliberate play.

What Lives Here

It is interested in the things people argue about, overlook, misunderstand, mythologize or simply make too weird to ignore.

BASH. may explore topics such as:

AI and human creativity

digital folklore and internet culture

art, music and authorship

spirituality and symbolic systems

social behaviour and cultural shifts

technology and the ways it changes how we live

humour, satire and absurdity

personal essays and lived observation

ideas that sit between categories and refuse to behave properly

Questions can remain open. Contradictions can sit beside each other. A piece can be thoughtful without pretending to have the final word.

BASH. lives inside Arts Coterie Project, but it has its own editorial voice.

It can wander farther than the main site, follow stranger threads, spend more time with an idea and occasionally poke at things that deserve poking.
